At the foot of the Tatras there is a picturesque village Małe Ciche. In 1669, called then Polana Cicha, it became the property of the Pawlikowski family. It was an area of pastures and when the first farmsteads appeared it became a shepherds’ settlement.
The Pawlikowskis live here until now. Later on the Żegleń family settled here. These two surnames are most common in the village. The original shepherds’ settlement gradually grew to become a village. It received its name Ciche from a clearing, where it is located, and Małe to distinguish it from the existing Ciche Wielkie.
In 1946 Małe Ciche obtained the rights of an independent village. In the beginning of the 70’ the asphalt road connecting the village to Kośne Hamry, the church, the school, the water supply system, and later on the fire station was built, and in the 80’ an asphalt road passing through the village and the cemetery was created.
Małe Ciche, like the other villages in Poronin commune, offers to tourists the ski lifts, fresh mountain air and the warmth of its inhabitants.
